Maggie Q — Biography

Margaret Denise Quigley, known professionally as Maggie Q, was born on May 22, 1979. She is an American actress, activist, and model who initiated her career in Hong Kong with notable roles in the action films Gen-Y Cops in 2000 and Naked Weapon in 2002. Following her early work, she made a mark in American cinema with appearances in films such as Mission: Impossible III (2006), Live Free or Die Hard (2007), Priest (2011), and The Protégé (2021). In the realm of science fiction, she played Tori Wu in the film Divergent (2014) and continued this role in its follow-ups, Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016). Q also led the cast in the title role of The CW's action-thriller series Nikita from 2010 to 2013, and she featured prominently as FBI Special Agent Hannah Wells in the political thriller series Designated Survivor from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, she lent her voice to the character Wonder Woman in the animated series Young Justice from 2012 to 2019. With a rich and diverse heritage, Maggie was born in Hawaii; her father has Polish, French-Canadian, and Irish roots, while her mother is Vietnamese. Initially known as Maggie Quigley, she opted for the name Maggie Q, citing difficulties in pronunciation faced by many of her Chinese colleagues on film sets. As of January 2026, she has gained a substantial following of 896,000 on Instagram.
