Melanie Joly — Biography
Mélanie Joly, born on January 16, 1979, is a prominent Canadian political figure and legal professional. Since October 2021, she has held the crucial position of Minister of Foreign Affairs. Affiliated with the Liberal Party, Joly serves as the Member of Parliament for the Montreal district of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, a role she assumed after the 2015 federal election. Throughout her parliamentary career, she has managed various government responsibilities, including those related to Canadian heritage, tourism, and La Francophonie. Prior to her federal service, Joly was a candidate for the mayoralty of Montreal in the 2013 municipal elections, ultimately finishing in second place behind Denis Coderre, who was elected mayor.
