Über Moana Pozzi
Moana Pozzi was a renowned Italian adult film actress, television figure, and politician. Born in Genoa, Italy, she was the daughter of Alfredo Pozzi, a nuclear engineer, and Rosanna, a homemaker. Her name, Moana, is of Polynesian origin, signifying "ocean." During her childhood, Moana spent some time in Canada and Brazil, as her father's profession required frequent relocations. The family returned to Italy when she was thirteen, where she completed her education.
Shortly before turning 18, in 1979, she gave birth to her sole child, a son named Simone, who was raised by her grandparents under the pretense that Moana was his sister. In 1980, the family relocated to France, but Moana chose to remain in Rome at the age of 19. In Rome, she began her career as a model and pursued acting, occasionally appearing in television commercials and taking minor roles in comedies.
She entered the adult film industry in 1981 with her first hardcore film, "Valentina, ragazza in calore," under the pseudonym Linda Heveret. A slight controversy emerged when she was suspended from a children's television show, "Tip Tap Club," due to her involvement in the film, although she denied it was the same person. This incident brought her significant attention in the media.
In 1985, acclaimed director Federico Fellini invited her to appear in his film "Ginger and Fred." Over her career, Moana starred in around 100 adult films, predominantly in Italy, but also in Los Angeles under the direction of Gerard Damiano. She achieved substantial commercial success, selling approximately one million videotapes and gracing the covers of 50 major magazines, excluding adult publications. At her peak in 1990, her net worth was estimated at over 50 billion lire, equivalent to about 26 million euros.
In 1994, Moana became seriously ill, suffering from inability to eat without vomiting and significant weight loss. She took a break from her career to travel with her husband, Antonio Di Ciesco, visiting India and then France. Tragically, she passed away in Lyon, France, on September 15, 1994, at the young age of 33, allegedly due to liver cancer. Her younger sister, Maria, known as Baby Pozzi, also pursued a career in adult films, collaborating with various well-known performers.
