Monica Vitti — Biography

Maria Luisa Ceciarelli, known to the world as Monica Vitti, was an Italian performer born on November 3, 1931, and who passed away on February 2, 2022. Her career took flight in the 1960s with a series of critically acclaimed films helmed by director Michelangelo Antonioni. During this period, she shared the screen with notable actors such as Marcello Mastroianni, Alain Delon, Richard Harris, Terence Stamp, and Dirk Bogarde. Upon her passing, Italy's culture minister, Dario Franceschini, paid tribute to her legacy, referring to her as "the Queen of Italian cinema." Vitti's exceptional talent was recognized with numerous accolades, including five David di Donatello Awards for Best Actress, seven Italian Golden Globes for Best Actress, a Career Golden Globe, and the prestigious Career Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival.
