Najwa Nimri — Biography
Born on February 14, 1972, Najwa Nimri Urrutikoetxea is a prominent Spanish figure in both acting and music. Her initial significant cinematic engagement came with Salto al vacío, the directorial debut of Daniel Calparsoro. Nimri's musical journey began with smaller ensembles before she joined forces with Carlos Jean in 1996 to establish the duo Najwajean. In addition to her work with the band, she has produced three individual studio albums. Her personal life includes a past marriage to Daniel Calparsoro, with whom she shares a son named Teo, born in 2004. Critical acclaim has been bestowed upon several of her performances, notably her portrayal of Ana in Lovers of the Arctic Circle and Elena in Lucía y el sexo, both helmed by director Julio Medem. She also shared the screen with Eduardo Noriega in Abre los ojos and El método. Her performance in Quién te cantará earned her a nomination for the Goya Award for Best Actress at the 33rd ceremony. In 2020, Nimri revisited her character Zulema in the spin-off series Vis a vis: El oasis, alongside Maggie Civantos. She also took on the role of police inspector Alicia Sierra in the popular series La casa de papel. Furthermore, in 2019, she lent her voice to the character Kate Laswell in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
