Natasha Henstridge — Biography

Natasha Tomya Henstridge is a Canadian actress and former fashion model recognized for her work in various films and television series. Among her most prominent roles are those in Species, The Whole Nine Yards, The Whole Ten Yards, It Had To Be You, Ghosts of Mars, She Spies, the television series Eli Stone, and the Canadian mini-series Would Be Kings, which earned her the Gemini Award for Best Actress. Recently, she appeared as Dawn Chamberlain in the TV series The Secret Circle. Henstridge's journey in modeling began at the age of 14 when she entered the Casablanca Modeling Agency's "Look of the Year" contest, securing the title of first runner-up. The following year, she moved to Paris to chase her modeling dreams. By 15, she graced the cover of the French Cosmopolitan magazine, marking the start of her successful modeling career that included multiple magazine covers and television commercials for brands like Olay, Old Spice, and Lady Stetson. Transitioning into acting, she made her film debut in 1995 with Species, portraying Sil, a genetically modified alien/human hybrid who escapes from a research facility. As a team tries to stop her before she can reproduce, Sil embarks on a deadly path while grappling with her mating instincts. The film was a commercial success, grossing $113 million at the box office. Known for its provocative themes, Species led Henstridge to win the MTV Movie Award for "Best Kiss" for a memorable scene involving her character. In 1998, she reprised a role similar to her character in Species II, although this film did not enjoy the same box office success. Henstridge was married to American actor Damian Chapa from 1995 until their divorce in 1996. From 1996 to 2004, she was in a relationship with American actor Liam Waite, and they share two sons. In 2004, she began dating Scottish singer Darius Campbell; the couple got engaged but ended their engagement in early 2010 before marrying on Valentine’s Day in 2011. Their marriage ended with divorce filings in July 2013, and the divorce was finalized in February 2018.
