Über Ronda Rousey
Ronda Jean Rousey stands as an American professional wrestler, actress, and retired judoka and mixed martial artist recognized for her prominent roles in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and WWE. She achieved recognition as the first American female to secure an Olympic medal in judo, earning bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Her mixed martial arts journey commenced with King of the Cage in 2011, followed by a stint with Strikeforce where she captured their final Women's Bantamweight Championship before the organization merged with UFC. Rousey participated in UFC's inaugural female bout at UFC 157, claimed the title of first Women's Bantamweight Champion in the promotion, and established a record of six consecutive title defenses by a female fighter until Valentina Shevchenko broke this mark in 2022. Following her 2016 retirement from MMA, she became the first female competitor inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018. In 2018, Rousey transitioned to professional wrestling after signing with WWE, making her wrestling debut at WrestleMania 34. She captured the Raw Women's Championship at that year's SummerSlam and featured prominently in Evolution, WWE's exclusive all-women's pay-per-view, where she retained her title. She surrendered the championship in the inaugural women's main event at WrestleMania 35. Following her 2022 Royal Rumble victory in the women's match, she secured the SmackDown Women's Championship twice that year, bringing her total WWE women's world championships to three. She attained status as the eighth Women's Triple Crown Champion upon winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship alongside Shayna Baszler, with whom she also unified the WWE and NXT women's tag titles. After departing WWE in October 2023, she pursued wrestling opportunities on the independent scene. Rousey remains the sole woman to have held championships in both UFC and WWE and the only female to headline pay-per-view events in both organizations. A 2015 ESPN fan poll ranked her as the greatest female athlete of all time, while Fox Sports labeled her "one of the defining athletes of the 21st century." Her film appearances include The Expendables 3, Furious 7, and Mile 22, and she published her memoir, My Fight / Your Fight, in 2015. She possesses English, Trinidadian, and Venezuelan heritage. As of December 2025, her Instagram following reaches 16.9 million, with 1.78 million YouTube subscribers.
