Sally Sheffield — Biography

Born under the New York sky in Brooklyn on June 17, 1941, Sally Sheffield became a notable figure in the pages of Playboy magazine as their Playmate of the Month in May of 1969. The iconic centerfold images were captured by photographer Pompeo Posar, who later characterized Sheffield as a "smart" and "interesting lady." Her personal life also saw a connection to modeling, with her younger sister, Anita Sheffield, also venturing into nude modeling. Interestingly, at the time of her celebrated photoshoot, Sheffield was two months pregnant.

Her intellectual pursuits were as prominent as her public image. Sheffield earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wellesley College, followed by a master's degree in musicology from the New England Conservatory of Music. Demonstrating her linguistic talents, she is proficient in both French and Hebrew. Of Jewish heritage, Sheffield's journey took her to Israel, where she dedicated six months to life on a kibbutz before her Playboy feature. Upon her return to New York, her creative talents extended to television. From 1965 to 1966, she contributed to an NBC-TV children's program titled The First Look, both appearing on the show and composing its musical score. When questioned about her motivations for seeking the Playmate title, Sheffield offered a straightforward answer, stating her interest stemmed from the prospect of it being "monetarily rewarding."
