Serinda Swan — Biography
Serinda Swan, born on July 11, 1984, is a talented actress from Canada. She takes on the character of Karla Dixon in the second season of the series Reacher on Amazon Prime Video. From 2019 to 2022, she portrayed Jenny Cooper in the crime drama series Coroner aired on CBC and The CW. In 2017, she had notable roles in Marvel's Inhumans and HBO's Ballers, as well as playing Anne Bancroft in the first season of the anthology series Feud. Earlier in her career, she made guest appearances on the WB/CW series Smallville as Zatanna Zatara, a magician based on DC Comics. Additionally, Swan played Paige Arkin in the USA Network's Graceland (2013–2015) and Erica Reed in the A&E drama Breakout Kings (2011–2012). Beyond acting, she co-founded and directs an online education technology company called Blueprint Kids. Serinda was born in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and briefly lived in Kauai, Hawaii.
Early in her life, she was influenced by her father, Scott Swan, a Canadian theatre director and actor who operates an acting studio. Her acting career commenced at the young age of five in 1989 with a minor role in the film Cousins, featuring Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini. One of her early adult appearances was in the music video for Theory of a Deadman's song "So Happy," released in April 2008. She gained her first film credit in the 2009 romantic comedy The Break-Up Artist. Between 2009 and 2010, she made three appearances as Zatanna Zatara on The CW's Smallville, specifically in the episodes “Hex,” “Warrior,” and “Icarus.” Additionally, in 2010, she played the Roman goddess Veritas in the Supernatural episode “You Can't Handle the Truth.” She featured as Siren #2 in the film Tron: Legacy and played Erica Reed in Breakout Kings from 2011 to 2012, revealing that many scenes were filmed in actual prisons with real convicts in sight. The series concluded on May 17, 2012. In 2017, she portrayed Zera in the film The Veil.
In March 2017, it was announced that Swan would take on the role of Medusa in ABC and Marvel Television’s Inhumans for one season. The show was canceled in 2018. Later that year, it was confirmed that she would star in the lead role of the CBC series Coroner, inspired by the Jenny Cooper novels by M. R. Hall. The series debuted in January 2019 and drew an audience of one million viewers per episode in its first season.
