Shruti Haasan is a prominent figure in Indian cinema, gracing the screens in films primarily in the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages. Her standing in the industry is reflected in her position as one of the highest-paid actresses. Her talent has been recognized with numerous awards, including two Filmfare Awards South and an impressive seven SIIMA Awards. Her influence extends to business publications, as she was featured on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list in both 2015 and 2016. Born to the esteemed actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan and the accomplished actress Sarika Thakur, Shruti Haasan began her professional journey with brief appearances as a child artist. Her official acting career commenced with the Hindi film Luck in 2009. Subsequently, she ventured into Telugu cinema in 2011. Haasan's earliest encounter with feature films was a small role as a child artist, portraying the daughter of Vallabhbhai Patel in her father's directorial, the Tamil-Hindi bilingual Hey Ram, a film centered on an assassination attempt on Mahatma Gandhi. Before her adult debut, Haasan reportedly turned down significant film opportunities, including a leading part in Venkat Prabhu's Saroja. By late 2007, speculation indicated her actual acting debut was slated for 2008 in a film opposite Madhavan, to be directed by Nishikant Kamat.
