Sue Lyon — Biography
Suellyn Lyon, born July 10, 1946, and passing on December 26, 2019, was an American performer whose legacy is primarily defined by her portrayal of Vladimir Nabokov's titular character in Stanley Kubrick's 1962 cinematic interpretation of the author's novel. This iconic role earned her a Golden Globe award. Lyon's initial years in the film industry saw her participate in several prominent productions, including John Huston's The Night of the Iguana in 1964, John Ford's 7 Women in 1966, the Frank Sinatra-led mystery Tony Rome in 1967, and George C. Scott's comedic venture The Flim Flam Man, also released in 1967. However, her professional trajectory saw a decline in the 1970s, and she concluded her acting career following her involvement in the 1980 film Alligator. Later, in 1991, Lyon's image was prominently featured on the cover art for the Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers' single 'Stay Beautiful'.
