Tera Wray — Biography

Tera Wray, born April 14, 1982, hailed from Louisville, Kentucky, and carved out a career as an adult film performer. Her professional moniker, Tera Wray, was an amalgamation of her given first name, Tera, and the middle name of a close friend, Wray. She often recounted a lifelong ambition, stating her desire to enter the adult film industry surfaced as early as fourth grade. Prior to her adult film career, Wray officiated as an umpire for youth softball leagues. At seventeen, she faced and overcame ovarian cancer, successfully treated with lasers and without the need for chemotherapy.

Her journey into adult entertainment began while working as a Hooters Girl. Through connections made at a local adult store, she applied to Pleasure Productions. In the summer of 2006, the company signed her, marking the first contract performer they had taken on in two years. Wray's inaugural scene was with Lee Stone in Naughty Auditions, though it was not the first film of hers to be released. That distinction belonged to Sweet Smokin' Hotties, which debuted on March 8, 2007. Her first on-screen lesbian encounter was with Nicki Hunter.

Wray was a frequent participant in films within the alternative pornography genre. In a notable instance during the summer of 2007, featured in the film Tattooed & Tight, she is believed to be the first person to engage in a hardcore sexual act on camera while her partner simultaneously received a tattoo. A devotee of heavy metal music, Wray hosted Radium, an adult-oriented music series created by Matt Zane. In this role, she conducted interviews with bands and attended concerts, in addition to her on-screen performances.

Further integrating her interests, she accompanied Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest Summer Tour in 2007, modeling for the tour's sponsors, Hustler Lingerie. It was during this tour that she began a relationship with Wayne Static, the lead singer of Static-X. The couple exchanged vows in Las Vegas on January 10, 2008. Wray announced her retirement from the adult film industry in August 2008.

In 2009, Static-X released their sixth studio album, Cult of Static. The album included two tracks, "Tera-Fied" and "Stingwray," the latter serving as a tribute to Tera's stage name and her Corvette Stingray. Wray also made an appearance in the music video for "Stingwray."

Tera Wray was widowed when Wayne Static passed away on November 1, 2014. She died on January 13, 2016, at the age of 33, in her California apartment, in what was an apparent suicide. Her roommate discovered her body on January 14,
