Toyah Willcox — Biography
Born on May 18, 1958, Toyah Ann Willcox is a multifaceted English artist, recognized for her work as a musician, actress, and television personality. Her creative journey, stretching across more than four decades, has seen her achieve considerable success. She has garnered eight singles that have reached the top 40, put out more than 20 albums, penned two books, and graced the stage in over 40 theatrical productions. Her film credits include 10 feature films, and she has lent her voice and presented a multitude of television programs. From 1977 to 1983, she led the band that bore her name, Toyah, after which she ventured into a solo career in the mid-1980s. At the 1982 Brit Awards ceremony, Willcox was recognized with nominations for British Breakthrough Act and Best Female Solo Artist. She received further nominations in the Best Female Solo Artist category in both 1983 and 1984. Among her notable hit songs are "It's a Mystery," "Thunder in the Mountains," and "I Want to Be Free."
