Valerie Pecresse — Biography
Born Valérie Anne Émilie Roux on July 14th, 1967, Valérie Pécresse is a prominent figure in French politics. Since 2015, she has held the leadership role of President of the Regional Council for Île-de-France. A staunch member of The Republicans party, her governmental career includes significant tenures as Minister of Higher Education and Research from 2007 to 2011. She then transitioned to the positions of Minister of the Budget and Government Spokeswoman, serving in these capacities from 2011 to 2012 under the premiership of François Fillon. Prior to her regional leadership, Pécresse actively represented the 2nd constituency of Yvelines in the National Assembly, serving two distinct periods: first from 2002 to 2007, and again from 2012 until 2016.
