Über Vanessa Blue
Vanessa Blue is an American adult entertainer who has worked as a performer, model, director and content creator within the industry. The AVN organization recognized her achievements by inducting her into their Hall of Fame in 2013. Her initial career involved performing as a dancer in clubs while simultaneously pursuing studies in emergency medical technology. Through connections made during her dancing work, she was introduced to fetish modeling by a fellow performer, and subsequently began her adult film career after receiving encouragement from another model in the field. Her first film role featured performer Ed Powers. Following an initial period in the industry, she relocated to Nebraska to spend time with family, taking a three-year hiatus before resuming her career in 2000. She maintained a working relationship with Mercenary Pictures over several years, serving as director on multiple productions including the series Black Reign, which received the 2005 AVN Award for Best Ethnic-Themed Series. During this time, she was engaged to Mercenary's owner, performer Lexington Steele. Their professional relationship became complicated when both parties filed federal lawsuits in 2008 regarding ownership of videos released under the Mercenary Pictures name, though these disputes were resolved through alternative dispute resolution processes by March 2009. Following this settlement, she began distributing content through Justin Slayer International after signing with them in April 2010. Her broadcast work included appearances on Playboy TV and hosting roles on Playboy Radio programs until 2008. She made a brief return to performing in 2011 with content created for a major studio. She holds the distinction of being the only American woman to maintain simultaneous performance and directing contracts with both Playboy TV and Hustler Video. Additionally, she became the first African American female director to win an AVN Award in January 2005 for her work on her initial three directed titles. Her career has extended beyond adult content, including appearances in mainstream movies and magazine features, notably an interview in Rolling Stone Magazine discussing work with rap artist 50 Cent. Her popularity led to the creation of a merchandise line bearing her name in 2003. She has also made appearances in music videos, including a brief role in The Game's music video for "Wouldn't Get Far."
