Born Vanessa Lesnicki on August 16, 1990, in Brussels, the artist known as Shay is a prominent figure in Belgian francophone rap. Her career gained significant traction following a collaboration with Booba in 2011. She has since put out numerous tracks, achieving considerable success with "XCII" under the 92i record label. Shay's debut album, Jolie Garce, arrived on December 2, 2016, and was later recognized with a gold certification. Her second album, Antidote, followed on May 10, 2019. Her musical identity is a fusion of hip-hop, rap, trap, urban pop, and R&B. She is currently signed with Capitol Music France.
Shay's roots are in Brussels, with a Belgian-Polish father and a Congolese mother. She carries a notable musical legacy as the granddaughter of the renowned singer Tabu Ley Rochereau.
