Veronica Varekova — Biography
Veronika Vařeková, known in English-language media as Veronica Varekova, is a model hailing from Olomouc in the Czech Republic. She relocated to New York City at the age of 19 to pursue her studies at the prestigious Parsons School of Design. Shortly after her arrival in Manhattan, she connected with Next Models and secured a contract on the spot. Vařeková quickly rose to prominence, gracing the covers of various magazines, including the renowned Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Her portfolio includes collaborations with esteemed photographers like Patrick Demarchelier, Gilles Bensimon, Ellen Von Unsworth, Greg Kadel, and Peter Lindbergh. She has featured in advertising campaigns for major brands such as Gap, Chanel, Guess, Nivea, Escada, Chopard, Pantene, Ungaro, Patek Philippe, Hublot, Victoria's Secret, and Newport News. Additionally, she has made appearances on television shows like The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CNN, Charlie Rose, and Fox and Friends. Vařeková has been featured in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition eight times between 1999 and 2002, and again from 2004 to 2007, securing a cover slot in 2004. Her work has also been highlighted in publications like Marie Claire, Vogue, Harper's & Queen, Maxim, and Cosmopolitan. In 2004, she tied the knot with Petr Nedvěd, a Czech Canadian professional ice hockey player, but their marriage ended in separation in 2006. In 2008, Vařeková undertook a climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, during which she engaged with the African Wildlife Foundation team in Tanzania. By October 2009, she had taken on the role of Goodwill Ambassador for this organization. Additionally, she is a dedicated volunteer at the SZPD Orphanage in her hometown. Currently, Veronica resides in New York City but also spends considerable time in Prague to remain close to her family and friends.
