Violante Placido — Biography
Violante Placido is a talented Italian actress and singer, born to actor-director Michele Placido and actress Simonetta Stefanelli. Her journey in film began with her debut alongside her father in Quattro bravi ragazzi in 1993, after which she appeared in Jack Frusciante Left the Band. A significant milestone in her career was her role in L'anima gemella, directed by Sergio Rubini. Placido's filmography also includes Ora o mai più, directed by Lucio Pellegrini, Che ne sarà di noi, by Giovanni Veronesi, and Ovunque sei, another project helmed by her father. In 2006, she starred in the comedy La cena per farli conoscere by Pupi Avati, which saw release in 2007. In March 2009, she ventured into Bollywood with a role in the Hindi film Barah Aana. That same year, she portrayed the famous adult film star Moana Pozzi in the miniseries Moana. In 2010, Placido shared the screen with George Clooney in the drama-thriller The American. She took on the role of Nadya in the 2011 movie Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, a sequel to the 2007 film Ghost Rider, both inspired by the Marvel Comics character. Furthermore, she co-starred in Transporter: The Series, a spin-off of the popular film franchise, where Chris Vance assumed the role of Frank Martin originally made famous by Jason Statham. In the second season, she played Caterina Boldieu, a former French intelligence officer aiding Frank Martin, the Transporter. In 2006, under the stage name Viola, she released her debut album as a singer titled Don't Be Shy..., featuring ten self-written tracks, predominantly in English, influenced by Stuart Benson. Her musical style draws comparisons to singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega, and her second single was "How to Save Your Life." Additionally, she worked with the Italian singer-songwriter Bugo, collaborating on a duet remake of his song "Amore mio infinito."
