Amy Smart — Biography

Amy Lysle Smart, born on March 26, 1976, is a talented American actress. She made her film debut in the anthology horror movie Campfire Tales, directed by Martin Kunert. This was followed by a minor role in Paul Verhoeven's science fiction classic, Starship Troopers, released in 1997. In 1998, she appeared in Dee Snider's Strangeland, but it was her part in the teen drama Varsity Blues in 1999 that brought her widespread acclaim. Around the same time, she had a recurring role as Ruby on the popular television show Felicity, which aired from 1999 to 2001.

Smart continued to rise in prominence with a leading role in the college sex comedy Road Trip in 2000 and featured in the ensemble cast of Jerry Zucker’s comedic film Rat Race in 2001. In 2004, she starred alongside Ashton Kutcher in the sci-fi drama The Butterfly Effect. She then appeared in Just Friends (2005), sharing the screen with Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris, and followed that with the sports drama Peaceful Warrior in 2006.

Between 2011 and 2012, Smart took on a recurring character, Jasmine Hollander, in the series Shameless. Her later work includes starring in Tyler Perry's comedy The Single Moms Club, released in 2014. More recently, since 2020, she has played Barbara Whitmore in the DC Universe/The CW superhero drama series Stargirl.
