Anya Chalotra — Biography
Anya Chalotra is an actress from the United Kingdom. She was born in Wolverhampton, England, to an Indian father and an English mother, and she has an older sister and a younger brother. Her father's family hails from Pathankot, a district in Punjab, India. Anya spent her childhood in the village of Lower Penn along with her family. Her education took place at St Dominic's Grammar School in Brewood, where she began her journey into acting through school productions and youth theatre. To further her artistic ambitions, she relocated to London to undertake a year-long foundational program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, later earning a three-year degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, setting the stage for her professional acting career.
Anya is well-known for her role as Yennefer of Vengerberg in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher, which stars notable actors such as Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anna Shaffer, Emma Appleton, and MyAnna Buring. She has been a part of all three seasons released thus far, with the series debuting on December 20, 2019; the second season following on December 17, 2021; and the third season premiering on June 29, 2023. Her stage credits include performances in Much Ado About Nothing until October 15, 2017, and The Village until October 6, 2018. In 2020, Chalotra was recognized as one of Screen Daily's Stars of Tomorrow. On July 15, 2020, it was announced that she would lead the voice cast of the animated sci-fi series NEW-GEN.
