Ashley Massaro — Biography
Ashley Marie Massaro (1979-2019) was an American model and former professional wrestler, renowned for her time with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and her participation in Survivor: China. She entered WWE after winning the Raw Diva Search in 2005. Following an initial feud with a group of female antagonists known as Vince's Devils, Massaro went on to serve as the valet for WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick. Among her most notable matches were a contest for the WWE Women's Championship against Melina Perez at WrestleMania 23 and a Playboy Bunnymania Lumberjill match at WrestleMania XXIV. Massaro departed from WWE in mid-2008. Before her wrestling career, she was crowned Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA in 2002 and also won titles in Canada. Her time with WWE saw her gracing the covers of multiple magazines, including the April 2007 edition of Playboy. She made appearances on various television shows and featured in music videos as well. Raised in Babylon, New York, Massaro was influenced by her father and brother, both of whom were amateur wrestlers. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Business from the State University of New York. Over the years, she dated wrestler Matt Hardy before moving on to Paul London. Massaro was a mother to one daughter, and when her daughter fell ill in mid-2008, she requested an early release from her WWE contract to provide care. In May 2008, Rolling Stone reported that she was involved with a Los Angeles escort agency, which was under investigation by the FBI. Reacting to the claim, Massaro expressed her distress on her MySpace account and urged her supporters not to believe the allegations. Despite another model with the same name coming into the spotlight during this controversy, Rolling Stone maintained its position. She had numerous tattoos, including a black and pink nautical star on the back of both elbows, a pink and red dragon with kanji symbols meaning 'Trust No One' along her right side, symbols on her lower back, and a butterfly on her right hip. Massaro also had several piercings, notably a 'Monroe' near her upper lip and 'Snakebites' on either side of her lower lip. TMZ later reported that "Ashley Massaro Died By Suicide." As of December 2023, she had garnered 144,000 followers on Instagram.
