Ayesha Takia — Biography

Ayesha Takia Azmi, born on April 10, 1986, is an Indian actress and former model primarily known for her work in Hindi cinema. Her acting journey began in 2004 with the action thriller Taarzan: The Wonder Car, a role that earned her both the Filmfare Best Debut Award and the IIFA Award Star Debut of the Year Female. Following this initial success, she featured in a string of commercially successful movies, including Socha Na Tha in 2005, Salaam-E-Ishq in 2007, Wanted in 2009, and Paathshaala in 2010. Her performances have also been recognized with accolades from the Bengal Film Journalists' Association awards and Screen Awards.

Takia's first taste of public recognition came at the young age of fourteen when she appeared in Falguni Pathak's music video for "Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye" in 2000. This led to further opportunities in music videos, television advertisements, fashion shows, and magazine covers. Her presence extended to South Indian cinema with her debut in the Telugu-language action heist Super in 2005, which garnered her the Screen Award for Best Actress (Critics). While she appeared in several films that did not achieve financial success, such as Shaadi Se Pehle (2006), Cash (2007), De Taali (2008), and 8 x 10 Tasveer (2009), the 2006 drama Dor proved to be a pivotal moment in her career. This film earned her numerous award nominations, including the Screen Award for Best Actress (Critics), the Zee Cine Award – Critics' Choice Best Actress, the Bengal Film Journalists' Association - Best Actress Award, and the Stardust Best Supporting Actress Award. Beyond her acting pursuits, Takia is an advocate for wildlife protection. She has also contributed to the musical-reality show Sur Kshetra as a talent judge.
