Bree Barrett — Biography

Bree Barrett, originally from Layton and Salt Lake City, Utah, concluded a career in adult entertainment that included 63 magazine covers, 8 photo spreads, and 55 video appearances before her retirement in 2015. Her life took a significant turn after leaving the industry, as she then set her sights on a career in nursing. According to Boobpedia, Barrett departed adult films in 2013 to train as an emergency medical technician in Salt Lake City. Later, she moved to Oregon to continue her nursing education at Southwestern Oregon Community College. It was during this time that her academic history came to light. Barrett subsequently initiated legal action, filing a tort damages lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Oregon, alleging that the college had discriminated against her and intentionally failed her in the nursing program between the fall of 2017 and spring of 2018. She reported that several attorneys declined to represent her in the lawsuit, and that she had even contemplated suicide before resolving to pursue legal recourse. Court documents from 2022, following a four-year legal struggle, revealed that a jury determined the school had violated its contract with Barrett, leading to damages for the plaintiff. She was awarded $735,417 in economic damages and $1 million for non-economic damages. This case has been recognized as a significant precedent for former sex workers facing discrimination in educational institutions and professional settings due to their past work. Barrett herself has stated that she is not ashamed of her time in the adult industry, which she enjoyed, but sought a more stable profession. As of 2022, she was pursuing legal studies at the University of Massachusetts.
