Brenda Strong — Biography

Brenda Strong, born Brenda Lee Strong on March 25, 1960, is an American actress and a figure in the fitness world. Her acting journey commenced in the realm of television, where she made guest appearances on notable shows such as Twin Peaks, Party of Five, Scandal, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Blossom, and Sports Night. A pivotal role in her career was her portrayal of Mary Alice Young in the widely watched series Desperate Housewives, which ran from 2004 to 2012. She also brought the memorable character of "Sue Ellen Mishke," also known as "The Braless Wonder," to life in recurring appearances on the NBC sitcom Seinfeld.

Beyond television, Strong contributed to several films with supporting parts, including Starship Troopers in 1997, Black Dog in 1998, The Deep End of the Ocean in 1999, Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation in 2004, and The Work and the Glory, also in 2004. Her most recognizable performance remains that of Mary Alice Young in the ABC comedy-drama Desperate Housewives, a role that earned her two Emmy Award nominations. Following that success, she took on the part of Ann Ewing in the TNT prime time soap opera Dallas from 2012 to 2014. In 2016, her television work continued with guest spots as Queen Nia on The 100 and a recurring role as Lillian Luthor on Supergirl. Strong also featured as a recurring character in the second season of the Netflix original 13 Reasons Why, and by September 2018, she had been elevated to a series regular for its third season. In the fourth season of the same series, she also stepped behind the camera to direct two episodes.
