Carmen Jorda — Biography

Carmen Jorda Buades is a Spanish competitor in the world of motorsport. For a three-year span, from 2015 through 2017, she served as a development driver for both the Lotus and Renault Sport Formula One racing outfits. Her inclusion with Lotus marked a significant historical moment, positioning her as only the eleventh woman ever to be named to a Formula 1 team's roster of drivers. Jorda has established herself in some of racing's most esteemed series, a testament to her profound passion and unwavering commitment. Her time with the esteemed Lotus and Renault Formula 1 programs led to the distinction of being the eleventh woman to hold a position within an F1 driver lineup. In 2017, Carmen was also appointed to the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, following a decade dedicated to championing female participation in single-seater racing and reigniting discussions about women in Formula 1. Racing flows through Carmen's veins, a legacy inherited from her father, former race car driver Jose Miguel Jorda. She was introduced to the sport at a very young age, demonstrating an early fascination with speed and receiving her first go-kart at the age of ten. Carmen has competed in a variety of championships, including Spanish Formula 3, European F3 Open, GP3, Indy Lights, the Le Mans Series, and the Renault Trophy.
