Cindy Brooks — Biography
An American figure in both modeling and acting, Cindy Brooks gained notable recognition after being selected as Playboy's Playmate of the Month for April 1985. At 33 years old, she held the distinction of being the second-oldest Playmate to grace the magazine's pages at that time, surpassed only by Dolores Donlon, who was nearly 37 when her feature was published in August 1957. Brooks's tenure as the second-oldest Playmate continued for a significant period. In November 1993, Julianna Young, also 33, was featured as a Playmate, but she was a few months younger than Brooks, thus maintaining Brooks's second-place standing. This lasted for 17 years and 9 months until January 2003, when Rebecca Anne Ramos, at 35, became the second-oldest Playmate. Later, in November 2020, Khrystyana Kazakova, also 35, assumed this position, placing Cindy Brooks as the fourth oldest.
The middle initial "J" in her name honors her father, John, who was the proprietor and builder of "Fantasyland," a storybook-themed amusement park located in Gettysburg. Cindy contributed to the family business during her summers throughout her college education. Outside of her professional life, she is also a skilled polo player.
Brooks faced a significant health challenge in 1996 when she received a diagnosis of terminal cancer with an estimated two years to live. She embarked on a journey of self-healing, opting exclusively for alternative medicine and achieving remission within ten months. Remarkably, twenty-nine years after her diagnosis, she has remained cancer-free.
Beyond her American feature, Cindy Brooks was also named Playboy Italy Playmate of the Month in April 1985, and graced the covers of Playboy Australia and Playboy Japan as their Playmate of the Month in May 1985.
