Elina Svitolina — Biography

Born on September 12, 1994, Elina Svitolina stands as a prominent figure in professional tennis for Ukraine. Her ascent to a career-best ranking of world number 3 occurred on September 11, 2017. In the doubles discipline, she achieved a peak of world number 108 on May 4, 2015. Svitolina has amassed 16 Women's Tennis Association singles championships, notably capturing the 2018 WTA Finals. Furthermore, in 2017, she triumphed at three of the five Premier 5 events, including the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Italian Open, and the Canadian Open. Her debut Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance was at the 2015 French Open, where she was ultimately bested by former champion Ana Ivanovic. A significant milestone was reached in February 2017 when, following her Dubai victory, Svitolina became the first Ukrainian woman to enter the top 10 rankings. The 2019 season saw her reach her first Grand Slam semifinals at both Wimbledon and the US Open.
