Erin Richards — Biography

Hailing from Penarth, Wales, Erin Richards is a multifaceted talent working as an actress, director, and writer. Her most recognizable work includes her portrayals of Molly Hughes in the comedy series Breaking In and Barbara Kean in the popular drama Gotham. On Gotham, she shared scenes with Jessica Lucas, who played her romantic partner, Tabitha.

Born on December 12, 1983, Richards honed her craft at the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her early career included hosting the Welsh language teen program Mosgito for S4C and appearing in various short films. She then secured notable roles in BBC television productions such as Crash and Being Human.

In 2012, Richards joined the cast of the FOX comedy Breaking In, taking on the role of an executive assistant with a pronounced English accent, becoming a regular cast member by January of that year. That same year, she took on the part of Sharon in the horror film Open Grave, sharing the screen with Sharlto Copley.

From 2014 to 2019, Richards captivated audiences as Barbara Kean in the FOX television series Gotham. Her contributions to the show extended beyond acting when she stepped behind the camera to direct the fifth season episode "The Trial of Jim Gordon," which aired on March 7, 2019. A 2025 interview regarding the series Mudtown revealed that Richards was a mother to a two-year-old son and was expecting her second child.
