Esther Schweins — Biography

Born on April 18, 1970, in Oberhausen, Esther Schweins is a German talent known for her work as an actress and comedian. Her rise to prominence was significantly boosted by her memorable contributions to the RTL Samstag Nacht program, an endeavor that earned her a Bayerischer Fernsehpreis award in 1994.

Beyond her comedic work, Schweins lent her voice to a beloved animated character, providing the German vocal performance for Princess Fiona across the Shrek film series. More recently, in 2018, she took on a significant historical role, portraying the influential British suffragette and political activist Emmeline Pankhurst. This performance was part of the German docudrama titled "We are half the World" (Die Hälfte der Welt gehört uns), which explored the women's suffrage movement in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

Schweins has also experienced a profound personal event. She was present in Sri Lanka when the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake struck, a harrowing experience she survived while on holiday with her mother.

In her personal life, Esther Schweins is a mother to two children, a daughter born in 2007 and a son born in 2008. The children's father is a farmer from Mallorca, Spain. Schweins has chosen not to marry him, as she holds personal beliefs that lead her to not subscribe to the institution of marriage.
