Gabriella Infelise — Biography
Gabriella Infelise doesn't see her performances as fitting neatly into the burlesque category, but rather as an evolution of it. She describes burlesque as a nineteenth-century art form that has continuously transformed, allowing contemporary performers to blend diverse artistic disciplines. Some artists lean towards circus, others cabaret, dance, or theater, with burlesque serving as a broad canvas for various expressions. While a connection to sensuality and femininity is often present, it can also encompass male sensuality, as some performers are male. Gabriella discovered burlesque five years prior to this interview, during a period of exploration into eros and defining her artistic identity. Her research revealed that burlesque already encompassed her aspirations. She then found an opportunity at Rome's Micca Club, which hosted burlesque shows, and a casting call coincided with her search, marking the beginning of her journey in the genre.
