Grey DeLisle — Biography

Known professionally as Grey DeLisle, Erin Grey Van Oosbree is a Canadian talent recognized for her work in acting and singing. Born in Fort Ord, California, her father, George Van Oosbree, was a truck driver, and her mother, Joanna Ruth, was a singer. Her heritage is a rich tapestry of Dutch, French, Irish, Mexican, and Norwegian roots. Her parents parted ways when she was quite young. At the age of eleven, her mother embraced a born-again Pentecostal faith, and young Erin was subsequently raised by her maternal grandmother, Eva Flores. Her grandmother, a vocalist herself, had the distinction of performing alongside the legendary salsa artist Tito Puente. DeLisle points to her father's passion for country music as the primary force shaping her own musical inclinations. In her teenage years, she found herself drawn to singing vintage gospel songs. A pivotal turn came when, on the suggestion of a close confidante, she ventured into the realm of stand-up comedy. Her comedic performances were characterized by skillful voice impersonations, which caught the attention of a casting director who then encouraged her to explore voice acting. Following her first marriage to Christopher DeLisle in 1992, which concluded in divorce in 1993, she adopted his surname. In 2002, she married Murray Hammond, a member of the band Old 97's. Their son, Jefferson Texas "Tex" Hammond, was born on January 31, 2007. She and Hammond divorced in 2010. Post-divorce, she entered into a relationship with Jared Griffin, and they exchanged vows on June 27, 2012. DeLisle and Griffin had initially connected through the social media platform Twitter. The couple was expecting their first child together in October 2014. In 2023, her portrayal of Catwoman in video games was notable.
