Jenny Lewis — Biography

Born Jennifer Diane Lewis on January 8, 1976, this American artist is recognized for her work as a singer-songwriter, musician, and actress. She once fronted the indie rock group Rilo Kiley, taking on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and keyboard duties. Lewis first entered the public eye during the 1980s as a young performer, appearing in the movies Troop Beverly Hills and The Wizard, both from 1989, and the television show Brooklyn Bridge, which aired from 1991 to 1993. In the mid-1990s, she scaled back her acting work to dedicate herself to music, and in 1998, she established Rilo Kiley with Blake Sennett, another former child actor. The band produced four studio albums before concluding their run in 2014. As a solo artist, Lewis has put out five albums: Rabbit Fur Coat in 2006, Acid Tongue in 2008, The Voyager in 2014, On the Line in 2019, and Joy'All in 2023. Beyond Rilo Kiley and her individual projects, Lewis has also been a part of the musical ensembles the Postal Service, Jenny & Johnny, and Nice as Fuck.
