Josephine Langford — Biography

Born on August 18, 1997, Josephine Langford hails from Australia, where she also previously pursued a singing career. She is the daughter of Elizabeth and Stephen Langford; her father's career is with the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. Her older sister, Katherine Langford, is also a recognized actress. Still early in her Hollywood journey, Langford has been featured in two prominent film roles. Her talent is evident, suggesting a promising future in the industry. Prior to her significant film work, she had small parts in two to three films. She had an uncredited role in Sex Ed in 2013, appearing alongside Haley Joel Osment and Lorenza Izzo. In 2014, she portrayed Renae Armstrong in Gypsy Blood. Another appearance was in Pulse in 2017, where she shared the screen with Scott Lee and Daniel Monks. A notable project for her was Wish Upon in 2017, taking on the character of Darcie Chapman and working with Joey King, Ki Hong Lee, and Reagan Revord. She gained wider recognition for her acting in the 2019 film After, co-starring with Hero Fiennes-Tiffin. This movie garnered mixed reviews and achieved over $48 million globally. In After, she played a studious college freshman whose life takes an unexpected turn after meeting a rebellious young man. As a newcomer, Langford has not yet been part of a record-breaking production. Nevertheless, her performance in After demonstrates considerable acting ability and suggests a significant career ahead. Before securing the role of Tessa in After, Langford auditioned for the part of Molly, which had already been cast. Her role was subsequently changed, and despite initial apprehension about portraying a different character, she successfully navigated the adjustment. Langford had not previously met Hero Fiennes-Tiffin before their audition for After; they met just ten minutes before their meeting with the producers. With only a week before filming commenced, their time was dedicated to rehearsals, limiting opportunities to truly get acquainted. However, this pre-filming interaction proved more beneficial than meeting on the first day of shooting, and the collaboration proceeded well.
