Laís hails from a rich cultural background that combines African, Indigenous Brazilian, Portuguese, and German ancestry, showcasing the variety inherent in Brazil's heritage. Her formal educational background is limited, with only a high school diploma noted, as she shifted her focus to a modeling career early on. Discovered in 2009 at a Brazilian modeling competition—encouraged by a friend—Laís began her journey shortly after becoming a mother to her son, Alexandre, at the age of 18. Initially, she had aspirations of becoming a nurse but chose to move to New York to chase her modeling dreams, marking her entry into the international fashion world with her debut at the 2010 Rag & Bone show.

Laís quickly gained prominence during what was referred to as "The Brazilian Bombshell" era of models between 2000 and 2010, alongside notable figures like Fernanda Tavares, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Gisele Bündchen. Her modeling success peaked during Brazil's 2011 summer São Paulo Fashion Week, where she was recognized as the most booked model. Over the years, she has graced the runways for prestigious designers such as Chanel, Gucci, Versace, and Dior, and became a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2015. In a standout moment, she wore the $2 million Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra in 2017.

With representation from multiple agencies, including Women Management in New York and Paris, as well as others across Milan, London, Barcelona, Brussels, and São Paulo, Laís has made significant contributions to major fashion publications. She has appeared in Vogue across various editions, along with Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, among others. Her campaigns for high-end brands like Tom Ford and Michael Kors have established her status on a global scale. On social media, she has amassed over 3.3 million followers on Instagram (@laisribeiro), utilizing her platform to showcase her modeling work, family life, and advocacy for autism awareness, inspired by her son’s condition.

In addition to modeling, Laís has explored television, hosting E! Entertainment's Born to Fashion in 2020 and presenting at the inaugural Brazilian premiere of the Latin Grammys. While she had a minor role in the TV series New Girl in 2014, her focus has largely remained on modeling and selective media appearances.
