Lea De Mae was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive type of brain cancer, in July 2004. As she fought against the illness, she received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow adult film actors, who contributed to a medical fund established for her in Prague. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with the disease on December 9, 2004, passing away at the young age of 27. Originating from Prague, Czech Republic, De Mae graced 280 magazine covers, featured in 35 photo sets, and starred in 245 adult films. Before her career in the adult industry, she was a member of the Czech high diving national team. However, during training for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, she suffered a spinal injury while diving from the 10-meter platform. Though she managed to recover from this setback, she did not qualify for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and her ongoing issues led her to retire from competitive sports. It was later that a photographer encouraged her to model nude, which ultimately led her into the realm of adult films. De Mae made her debut on American television in a series of features for Private Studios. She returned to Europe for additional filming but soon came back to the United States for further opportunities.
