Mallory Hagan — Biography

Born on December 23, 1988, Mallory Hytes Hagan is an American figure known for her involvement in both politics and the world of beauty pageants. She ascended to the prestigious title of Miss America in 2013, representing her home state as Miss New York 2012. Hagan relocated to New York in 2008, following her initial year of studies at Auburn University. Before achieving national recognition, her pageant journey included securing titles such as Miss Brooklyn in 2010, Miss Manhattan in 2011, and Miss New York City in 2012. She also demonstrated consistent success at the state level, placing as the first runner-up in the Miss New York competition on two separate occasions.

Her early involvement in pageantry began in Alabama, where she was a runner-up in the Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen competition. In 2007, as Miss Chattahoochee Valley, she received a non-finalist talent award at the Miss Alabama pageant. Hagan's advocacy during her Miss America reign centered on child sexual abuse awareness and prevention, a cause deeply personal due to her family's experiences with such abuse. During the competition, she also articulated her stance on gun control, advocating against responding to violence with more violence. Later, she ventured into politics, running as a Democrat in the 2018 congressional election for Alabama's 3rd congressional district. This district, comprising 14 counties, includes her native city of Opelika.
