Maria Whittaker — Biography
Born on October 7, 1969 in Hounslow, London, Maria Whittaker is a retired glamour model best known for her work as a Page Three girl. She holds the distinction of being ranked as Glamour Girl number 80 in the Glamour Girls: An Illustrated Encyclopedia. Whittaker entered the Page Three feature in The Sun newspaper during 1985 when she was just sixteen years old. She quickly rose to prominence within the feature, eventually earning the accolade of Page Three Girl of the Year in 1989. Her sibling Lisa also worked as a Page Three girl, and the two sisters collaborated on topless photographic shoots together.
The model's career extended beyond print journalism. In 1987, she graced the cover of Palace Software's video game Barbarian alongside Michael Van Wijk, known as Wolf from the television program Gladiators. When Barbarian 2 arrived in 1988, only Van Wijk appeared on its cover. Palace Software representatives indicated in statements that had a third installment been produced, they would have featured model Debee Ashby instead, though they did not explain their reasoning. She also headlined Maria Whittaker's X-Mas Strip Poker, a computer game launched in 1988 for the Commodore 64 and Commodore 128 platforms.
Prior to establishing herself in modelling, Whittaker appeared as a Hill's Angel in two separate episodes of The Benny Hill Show in 1983. She subsequently appeared in the 1986 film adaptation of Whoops Apocalypse and later in the 1989 film Tank Malling. She performed as a vocalist with The Rhythm Zone. Following the path of fellow Page Three model Samantha Fox, she pursued a singing career in 1990, releasing a single titled Stop Right Now, which failed commercially. She subsequently returned to modelling, contributing to pictorials for Mayfair and similar publications. Currently married to rapper Rebel MC, she has two children. She also has an older brother named David who works as an accountant in London's financial sector.
