Naomi Ellen Watts, born on September 28, 1968, is a British actress. After relocating to Australia with her family, she made her film debut in the local drama For Love Alone in 1986 and subsequently appeared in several television series, including Hey Dad..! (1990), Brides of Christ (1991), and Home and Away (1991), as well as the film Flirting (1991). After moving to the United States, Watts faced early challenges in her acting career, landing roles in smaller films until her breakthrough performance in David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001, where she portrayed an aspiring actress, marking the beginning of her ascent to global fame.

She gained further recognition as a troubled journalist in the horror remake The Ring (2002) and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her role as a grieving mother in Alejandro González Iñárritu's film 21 Grams (2003).
