Regiane Alves — Biography

Regiane Kelly Lima Alves, born August 31, 1978, in Santo André, is a Brazilian actress who first graced television screens as the lead character Clara in Fascinação (1998). Throughout her career, she has often been recognized for her compelling portrayals of antagonist roles. Notable among these are Lili in Meu Pé de Laranja Lima (1998), Clara in Laços de Família (2000), Dóris in Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003), Alice in Páginas da Vida (2006), and Mariacarla in O Tempo Não Para (2018).

Her journey into the performing arts began in her childhood in Santo André, part of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, where she was the daughter of José Monteiro Alves, a sales supervisor, and Maria Aparecida Lima Alves, a homemaker. Even as a child, she demonstrated a talent for expression, frequently winning poetry contests and dance festivals at her school. By her early teens, the aspiration for a career in the arts had taken root.

The dream of a life in performance and fashion emerged when she was thirteen, spurring her to actively pursue an artistic path. After achieving success in beauty pageants, she transitioned into modeling, working as a photographic and runway model. This period saw her featured in numerous advertising campaigns, television commercials, and magazine covers. However, her height, standing at 1.66 meters, led her to believe that her modeling career would be limited, prompting her to step away from the catwalk.

At seventeen, still driven by her artistic ambitions and having just passed university entrance exams for Social Communication, Regiane enrolled in a theater program in São Caetano do Sul, a town near her hometown. In 1996, she relocated to Rio de Janeiro to attend Rede Globo's Actors Workshop for six months. Despite not being cast in the soap opera Malhação after an audition, her resolve to become an actress remained unshaken. She returned to Santo André but soon moved to São Paulo on her own. She abandoned her Social Communication studies, as the program had been discontinued, and switched to Advertising, though she did not finish this degree either. Her commitment to theater continued as she sought opportunities in television. During this time, she was already touring the country performing in theater productions.

In August 2003, she was featured as Playmate of the Month in the Brazilian edition of Playboy.
