Sobre Shannen Doherty

Shannen Maria Doherty, born on April 12, 1971, was a multifaceted American actress, producer, author, and television director. She is widely recognized for her roles as Heather Duke in Heathers (1989), Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990–1994) and its spinoff 90210, as well as Prue Halliwell in Charmed (1998–2001). Doherty came into the world in Memphis, Tennessee, to Rosa Elizabeth (née Wright), who owned a beauty parlor, and John Thomas Doherty Jr., a mortgage consultant. She has an older brother, Sean, who is four years her senior. Her family heritage includes Irish Catholic roots from her father's side and English, Scottish, and Northern Irish ancestry from her mother's side. Doherty was raised in her mother’s Southern Baptist faith.

Her television career began with guest appearances on shows like Voyagers! and Father Murphy. She seized an opportunity when a casting call went out for a regular part on the beloved Little House on the Prairie, ultimately landing the role of Jenny Wilder at just 11 years old. This casting was influenced by her guest appearance on Father Murphy, produced by Michael Landon, who saw her potential. Doherty remained with the Little House series until its cancellation in 1983. In 1982, she showcased her voice in the animated feature The Secret of NIMH. Three years later, she took on the role of Maggie Malene in the teen comedy Girls Just Want to Have Fun, starring alongside Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Doherty then portrayed Kris, the eldest Witherspoon sibling, on the family drama Our House from 1986 to 1988, earning several nominations for the Young Artist Award. Following this, she appeared in an episode of Magnum, P.I. and an early episode of Airwolf, which led to a nomination for 'Best Young Actress: Guest in a Series' at the 6th Youth in Film Awards in 1984. Her breakthrough film role came with the 1989 release of Heathers.

In January 1993, Doherty found herself in legal trouble when California's United Bank sued her for $36,000 over more than 70 bounced checks. Later that same year, her ex-fiance Dean Factor sought an order of protection against her, claiming she had threatened him with a gun and stated she would hire individuals to harm him. Doherty was married to Ashley Hamilton, the son of actor George Hamilton, from September 1993 until their divorce in April 1994. In 2001, she faced legal consequences for drunk driving, receiving a sentence that included either 10 days in jail or 20 days of work-release duty, along with three years of probation and a $1,500 fine. Her brief seven-month marriage to Rick Salomon was annulled in 2003.
