Sheynnis Palacios — Biography

Sheynnis Palacios, a Nicaraguan beauty and a captivating presence, holds the prestigious title of Miss Universe 2023. Her ascent to this global stage followed her crowning as Miss Nicaragua 2023. This victory marked a historic moment, as Palacios became the first Nicaraguan to claim the Miss Universe crown, and indeed, the first from her nation to secure a victory in any of the esteemed "Big Four" international beauty pageants.

Before her Miss Universe triumph, Palacios showcased her poise at Miss World 2021, representing Nicaragua as Miss World Nicaragua 2020. In that competition, she advanced to the top 40. Prior to her major pageant successes, Palacios was actively engaged in modeling, television hosting, and journalism within Nicaragua. She notably hosted a program called Entiende tu mente, a show dedicated to exploring subjects related to mental well-being.

Palacios's journey in pageantry began in 2016 when she earned the Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016 title. Her international debut at Teen Universe 2017 saw her reach the top six. She then took a hiatus from pageantry before re-emerging to win Miss World Nicaragua 2020. As Miss World Nicaragua, she represented her country at Miss World 2021. The Miss World pageant, initially slated for December 16, 2021, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, faced a postponement due to COVID-19 outbreaks among participants and staff. Rescheduled for March 16, 2022, the competition invited only the 40 semi-finalists to compete. Palacios was among them but did not advance further. In August 2023, she triumphed at Miss Nicaragua 2023, securing her place at Miss Universe 2023.

Competing as Miss Nicaragua, Palacios captivated the judges and audience at Miss Universe 2023, held on November 18 in San Salvador, El Salvador, ultimately winning the coveted title. Her victory as the first Nicaraguan Miss Universe and the first from her country to win a Big Four pageant resonated deeply. She also holds the distinction of being the first Central American to win Miss Universe outright, following in the footsteps of Justine Pasek of Panama, who assumed the title in 2002 after the original winner's resignation. In her role as Miss Universe, Palacios has undertaken travels to El Salvador, the United States, Mexico, and Indonesia. Her current online presence is substantial, with an Instagram following of 2.2 million and 2.1 million on TikTok as of April 2025.
