Susan Backlinie — Biography

Susan Backlinie was an American performer and daredevil, most recognized for her role as Chrissie Watkins, the unfortunate victim in the harrowing opening sequence of Steven Spielberg's iconic 1975 film Jaws. Before her memorable turn in the blockbuster, Backlinie participated in a revealing photoshoot titled "The Lady and the Lion" for the January 1973 edition of Penthouse magazine, which featured her alongside the lion Zamba. Her presence was also noted in the February 1977 issue of Mayfair, where she appeared nude. Susan Backlinie passed away from a heart attack at her residence in Ventura, California.
