Sylvie Lubamba — Biography

Sylvie Lubamba entered the world in Florence, the daughter of parents who had journeyed from Kinshasa, Congo, and who themselves hailed from a Francophone middle-class background. Her formal education concluded with a degree from the Piarist Fathers' ITC, a Florentine institution. Following her studies, she embarked on a career in modeling. A significant moment arrived in 1992 when she was crowned Miss Tuscany, a title that granted her entry into the Miss Italy competition. This marked her as the first contestant of Black heritage to participate in the prestigious event. Her time in the pageant was cut short, however, as she faced disqualification following her involvement in a nude photoshoot.
