Sobre Tippi Hedren

Born Nathalie Kay on January 19, 1930, Tippi Hedren transitioned from a celebrated fashion model gracing the pages of Life and Glamour to a notable actress after director Alfred Hitchcock spotted her in a 1961 television advertisement. Her performances in two of his films garnered significant acclaim: the chilling thriller The Birds (1963), which earned her a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year, and the intense psychological study Marnie (1964). Over her career, Hedren has accumulated a filmography exceeding 80 roles in films and television programs, including an appearance in Charlie Chaplin's swan song, A Countess from Hong Kong (1967), the sharp political commentary Citizen Ruth (1996), and the philosophical comedy I Heart Huckabees (2004). Her impact on global cinema has been acknowledged with honors such as the Jules Verne Award and a permanent fixture on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Hedren's deep-seated dedication to animal welfare took root in 1969 during filming in Africa, where she witnessed the challenges faced by African lions. Driven to amplify awareness for these creatures, she invested over a decade in bringing the film Roar (1981) to fruition. Establishing the Roar Foundation in 1983, a nonprofit entity, she actively supports the Shambala Preserve, an expansive 80-acre sanctuary dedicated to the ongoing care and conservation of lions and tigers. Beyond her work with animals, Hedren has spearheaded relief efforts across the globe in response to natural disasters, famine, and conflict. She also played a pivotal role in fostering the growth of Vietnamese-American nail salons. Her family legacy includes daughter Melanie Griffith, and granddaughters Dakota Johnson and Stella Banderas.
