Yfke Sturm — Biography
Yfke Sturm, a Dutch fashion model, entered the modeling world at a young age. Born on November 19, 1981, in Almere, Flevoland, her career took flight in 1997 when an Elite Model Management scout spotted her in her hometown. This discovery led her to participate in the Dutch Elite Model Look Contest. Her victory there propelled her to the international stage, where she clinched the 1997 International Elite Model Look Contest held in Nice, France. At just fifteen years old, this win opened doors to significant opportunities, including exclusive contracts with fashion giants Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. Sturm also graced the runway for Victoria's Secret.
Beyond the runway, Sturm ventured into television. In 2006, she took on the role of host for Holland's Next Top Model, the Dutch iteration of the popular American show. The demanding schedule of hosting, however, proved challenging to balance with her thriving modeling career. After two seasons, she stepped down to prioritize her modeling commitments, though she did make a guest appearance on Holland's Next Top Model in 2011. Her television work continued in December 2016 when she began presenting for Fox Netherlands, starting with backstage interviews at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show that year.
Sturm also shared her insights into the industry through her co-authored book, Yfke's Model Secrets, released in 2009. The publication offers readers advice on fitness and nutrition, alongside personal anecdotes from the modeling world.
In her personal life, Sturm was married to businessman Imad Izemrane from 2007 to 2010. She has resided in both New York and London. In 2015, she welcomed a son. Tragically, in September 2015, Sturm sustained severe injuries in an accident while riding a surf jet off the island of Ischia. She was involved in a boat collision and was airlifted to a hospital with a fractured skull and spinal fractures, subsequently placed in a medically induced coma.
