À propos de Amber Smith
Amber Smith, born on March 2, 1971, in Tampa, Florida, is an accomplished American actress and fashion model. The only child of NFL player Russell Smith, who played for the San Diego Chargers, and professional model Carol Smith, Amber was inspired by her mother's career and began modeling at the age of fifteen. She initially gained experience by participating in local newspaper ads and fashion shows at the Holiday Inn. Just before she turned sixteen, Amber embarked on a journey to Paris, where she spent four years navigating the international modeling scene in Europe.
Her career took off dramatically when she dyed her naturally blonde hair red, resulting in a stronger resemblance to iconic actress Rita Hayworth. Amber gained significant visibility appearing in consecutive editions of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and became Esquire’s first Vargas Girl of the 1990s. She also spearheaded a landmark Wonderbra campaign as its inaugural model. Throughout her career, she garnered attention from high-fashion publications such as Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire. This editorial success translated into lucrative advertising contracts with brands like L'Oreal, Buffalo Jeans, Camel, Kahlua, Volkswagen, and Panama Jack. Amber showcased her talents on the runway for renowned designers, including Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Returning to the United States with an impressive portfolio created by notable photographers like Ellen von Unwerth, Walter Chin, Arthur Elgort, and Marco Glaviano, Amber's achievements included being the March 1995 Playboy cover model alongside multiple features in other leading magazines. After taking a three-year break to focus on acting, she secured a spot in a Wolford campaign shot by acclaimed photographer Helmut Newton and starred in the 2002 lingerie campaign for Venus Victoria, the European counterpart of Victoria's Secret. By the age of twenty-three, Amber moved to Los Angeles to embark on her acting career. She made her debut in Paul Mazursky's Faithful, following a referral from Robert De Niro that originated from her auditions for Casino. Subsequently, she took roles in The Funeral, directed by Abel Ferrara, and Barbra Streisand's The Mirror Has Two Faces. Amber’s striking similarity to Rita Hayworth was further showcased when she portrayed Susan Lefferts, a Hayworth lookalike, in Curtis Hansen's L.A. Confidential, and later in HBO's The Rat Pack.
