April Hunter — Biography
April Hunter is a multifaceted individual known for her work as a model, professional wrestler, wrestling valet, and adult model, with Irish and Scottish heritage. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but relocated to Enterprise, Alabama, after her parents' divorce. At the age of sixteen, she moved back to Philadelphia. Hunter pursued higher education with a focus on English, Biology, and Chemistry but eventually left college after several years. At nineteen, she entered the adult entertainment industry as an erotic dancer and later transitioned to softcore nude modeling. Despite her initial foray into that realm, Hunter grew disenchanted with the adult business and turned her attention to fitness modeling.
In 2000, she was recruited by Terry Taylor for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) after her appearance in Playboy caught their attention. In WCW, she became part of the "Black and White" nWo faction, joining four other models—Tylene Buck, Pamela Paulshock, Midajah O'Hearn, and Kim Kanner—who accompanied nWo members to ringside. Following the breakup of the nWo, the models continued their association with Scott Steiner and were dubbed his "freaks." However, Hunter departed from WCW later that year due to a disagreement over pay.
Determined to pursue wrestling, Hunter moved to Boston in 2001 to train under the legendary Killer Kowalski. She began her career in the independent wrestling circuit and made history as the first female wrestler to hold male Tag Team Titles alongside Wagner Brown, capturing championships in JAPW and 3PW. Hunter also formed one of the earliest women’s tag teams in the United States with fellow Kowalski graduate Nikki Roxx, competing in World Xtreme Wrestling under the name The Killer Babes. Throughout her career, she formed multiple tag teams and secured titles with partners like Talia ("T & A") and J.D. Michaels.
Hunter has showcased her wrestling prowess across numerous American promotions, facing off against both male and female competitors, including Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. She has traveled extensively for her career, performing in Europe, Japan, Puerto Rico, Canada, the UK/Ireland, and Mexico on numerous occasions. Notably, she is among the few Western women invited back multiple times to compete in Japan's demanding wrestling circuit. Additionally, Hunter made guest appearances in Carmen Electra’s NWWL, where she participated in matches conducted in the nude. In November 2006, she achieved a significant milestone by winning the Queens of Chaos world title in Paris, a renowned tournament celebrated for featuring top female wrestlers from around the globe.
