Rebbeca Marie Gomez, who goes by the stage name Becky G, is a multi-talented American singer and actress. Renowned for her musical diversity, she has released tracks and albums across various genres. Throughout her career, she has garnered a wealth of awards, including two American Music Awards, an iHeartRadio Music Award, nine Latin American Music Awards, and the distinguished Extraordinary Evolution Award, alongside nominations for a Billboard Music Award and five Latin Grammy Awards. Additionally, she received the Impact Award at the Billboard Women in Music event. In 2021, she launched her own cosmetics line, Treslúce Beauty.
Gomez first rose to prominence in 2011 through her online videos where she covered popular songs. Her talent quickly caught the eye of record producer Dr. Luke, who offered her a record deal with Kemosabe Records in collaboration with RCA Records. As she worked on her debut project, she teamed up with artists including Will. I Am, Cody Simpson, and Cher Lloyd. In 2013, she debuted her commercial single, "Becky from the Block," which received favorable reviews. That same year, she released her first extended play, Play It Again. Her follow-up single, "Can't Get Enough," featuring Pitbull, topped the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart in the U.S. Gomez achieved widespread recognition with her hit "Shower," which entered the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100 and earned multi-platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over two million units in the country.
In September and October 2015, she co-headlined a tour with J Balvin across the United States. She appeared as Valentina Galindo in two episodes of the musical series Empire, contributing two new songs to its soundtrack. In 2016, she released "Sola," her first Spanish-language single. The following year, she delivered "Zooted," featuring French Montana and Farruko, marking her return to English-language music after a three-year hiatus. In 2019, she released several singles in both English and Spanish, collaborating with stars such as Daddy Yankee, Zayn, Christina Aguilera, and David Guetta.
Gomez's first studio album, Mala Santa (2019), debuted at number 85 on the Billboard 200 and achieved 7× platinum certification by RIAA Latin, reaching number three on the Top Latin Albums chart. It produced two top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart: "Mayores" and "Sin Pijama."
