Canadian performer Brigitte Kingsley is widely recognized for her portrayal of Summer Vale across the Dark Rising film and television franchise. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Kingsley spent her formative years in the adjacent community of Hanmer before relocating to Whitby, Ontario, at the age of ten. Her father, Denis, dedicated over two decades to the lumber insurance sector before he and her mother, Diane, a retired teacher from the French Catholic school board, jointly established two Topper's Pizza outlets in Whitby and Oshawa, Ontario. Kingsley is the younger sibling to her sister, Natalie.

Her acting journey commenced at fourteen, marked by appearances in commercials for prominent brands such as Oxy, Foot Locker, McDonald's, Head & Shoulders, and Radio Shack. She pursued her education at Saint-Charles Garnier, a French Catholic school in Whitby, Ontario, completing grade 12 there before undertaking her Ontario Academic Courses at Anderson Collegiate, also located in Whitby. Later, Kingsley pursued higher education at York University in Toronto, where she majored in theatre and psychology, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Studies with Honours.
