Elyse Knowles — Biography

Born on September 30, 1992, Elyse Knowles is an Australian personality recognized most widely for her victory on the reality competition series The Block in 2017. She currently serves as a spokesperson for the retail giant Myer.

Knowles' formative years were spent in Melbourne, where she was born to parents Stuart and Kim. Her family includes a sister named Tahlea and a brother named Brayden, both younger than her. Growing up in the Eltham area, she attended Eltham High School. Her journey in the modeling world began at the tender age of 10. During her primary school years, she appeared in campaigns for various family-oriented brands, including Target Australia, before being selected for a notable Jay Jays advertisement. By sixteen, she was traveling internationally to China and Hong Kong for modeling work.

In 2015, Knowles transitioned into fitness modeling for Billabong. She also took on ambassador roles for the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix and served as the Melbourne Spring Racing ambassador. Furthermore, she ventured into fashion design, launching her own label, "Evrryday." The following year, 2016, saw her become the face of ulta3 and the Caulfield Cup Carnival. She also held ambassador positions for the ATC Longines Golden Slipper, appearing alongside Rachel Griffiths, and for DHL's "Safer Beaches" initiative.

In 2017, Elyse Knowles, alongside her partner Josh Barker, was among the five couples competing in the thirteenth season of Nine Network's The Block, which debuted on July 30. Their triumph came when their renovated property was sold at auction for $3.067 million AUD to comedian Dave Hughes, enabling the couple to settle their mortgage. In that same year, Knowles also took on her first charity role as an event ambassador for WaterAid. The heightened visibility from her Block win propelled her career, leading to numerous modeling opportunities and a demanding schedule throughout 2018. During this period, she was appointed an ambassador for Aveda Haircare, the Australian swimwear brand Seafolly, Davidoff's 'Cool Water' fragrance, and the Australian department store chain Myer. At Myer, she succeeded Jennifer Hawkins, another prominent Australian model, who had held the position for 12 years.

Knowles met her fiancé, Josh Barker, in his hometown of Byron Bay in 2013. The couple relocated from Melbourne and are parents to a son named Sunny. Following their win on The Block, they established J&E Projects in 2018, a construction and design company undertaking projects in both Melbourne and Byron Bay.
